About Mestre Lua de Bobó
Mestre Lua de Bobó was about 15 years old, he met Mestre Bobó (Mr. Milton dos Santos) and started to train in the back yard of Mestre Bobó’s house, in Totoro, which belonged to the Academia de Capoeira Angola Cinco Estrelas. After having followed his mestre for more than 20 years, he was honored with a Master Certificate in 1987, at Dique do Tororo. Soon after, Lua de Bobó found the Grupo de Capoeira Angola Menino de Arembepe (GCAMA), when he started to teach in Arembepe and at the Clube de Regatas Vasco da Gama, in Dique, Salvador. In 1990 Mestre Lua de Bobó did his first trip abroad in order to demonstrate his capoeira game in Atlanta, U.S.A. It was in the same year Mestre Bobó passed away. Mestre Lua left Dique in 2001 and started to work on the Project of building his own center, in his family’s land at Arembepe. Since then, he has traveled to many places abroad, including Atlanta, Boston, Washington, Paris and Barcelona passing on his master’s teaching.
